Hello Faith Families,

I love fall so much and people think I am just nuts, but it brings back such memories for me as a kid. My mom would walk us to Park School, until 3rd grade, here in Old Orland Park. Along our walk were many trees, specifically Oak trees. As we walked we would get to trek through a bunch of fallen leaves. The swishing sound still rings in my ears. The weird sweet, musty smell of fallen leaves fills my nose. But my absolute favorite part was, and still is to this day, the acorn heads. The sound and feel of stepping on an acorn top and “P O P!” OOOHHH, it brings me such JOY. I stepped on some the other day and I giggled with delight and then I thanked God for his sense of humor and beauty called Fall. Yes, is it rainier, damper, darker, a bit gloomier, but the colors the trees turn is truly an artist’s masterpiece. Without the leaves falling and flowers dying, we would not look forward to Spring and the sign of rebirth in February, March, and April. Though the leaves may be falling and the days getting shorter, Faith families are definitely NOT slowing down!

Here is what is happening for October. We have had a couple date changes, please mark your calendars. Sorry for the
confusion.

• Sunday School is under way and we are diving into the stories of the Bible and how God is working in this cast of characters lives at 9am & 11am every Sunday.
• Trunk or Treat (date change) October 18 @ 5:30-7:30. Come and trick or treat from trunks right here at Faith. Cars will have their trunks decorated for Halloween. Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes and bring a bucket or bag as they walk from trunk to trunk gathering candy. We will have games, popcorn, crafts, and new this year, Painted Pumpkin Contest. Guests will receive a ticket at the check in table, to vote on their favorite pumpkin that will have been painted from our Family Fun Participants. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Bring your kids, grandkids, or neighbors, all ages are welcome! Decorated Trunks please arrive by 5pm and bring candy to pass out. Please sign-up at the bulletin board info area, down the hall from the main office. You can also sign up online or register your trunk HERE.
• Connect: Jr. & Sr. High Youth Group October 5th 12pm – 1:30pm. We will be creating parts for our Trunk that we will host this year for Trunk or Treat. We can’t wait to surprise the kids with our cool trunk!
• Family Fun October 11 @ 12pm – 1:30pm We will be painting pumpkins for our Trunk or Treat Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Bring your creative ideas. Wear play clothes that can get dirty. We will order pizza for lunch and have drinks also. All are welcome. Please sign-up by the bulletin boards!

I know we are busy this month, and we love having fun here at Faith. We hope you are able to make it to all or some. If you are able to do anything this month, look at the sheer beauty of God’s creation and remember You are a part of that beauty.
