We are about to dive into our Fall schedule. September 7th is Kick-Off Sunday with Chancel Choir, Sunday School and many other activities to begin this month. Our more leisurely summer is nearing an end as Labor Day comes and goes. Remember that we will have ONE WORSHIP service the first weekend of September—Sunday at 10 am.
I have been getting to know many of you better through my “Listening Tour” or “Meet and Greets.” I am so grateful for all who have hosted so far and for those who will be hosting a few more in September. There has been lots of laughter as well as some challenging conversations as we have talked about how Church has changed over the years. Acknowledging that there isn’t a magic recipe for attracting AND engaging young families as well as discerning what will make the Good News of Jesus Christ relevant to those who aren’t here yet is difficult.
There are several things that we are already implementing as a result of these conversations. Anna Hopper has set up an Instagram page, she has posted reels on Facebook and is “boosting” particular posts in order to reach a larger audience. Be sure to grab one of the “Got Faith” magnets for your car as a way to provide more exposure to the community that we are here. In addition, a Calling Team will be reaching out to individuals and families we haven’t seen in a while.
As always, the best way to grow is to invite neighbors and friends to attend an event or worship service. Offer to meet them at the church entrance and sit with them. Entering a new place, can be anxiety provoking and if someone has never attended worship, it’s helpful to have someone show them “the ropes.”
I am so grateful to be your pastor. You have made me feel so welcome and I am really looking forward to getting to know you even better and walking with you as we continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
Peace,
Pastor Jenny
