Thank you once again to all who donated snacks for Together We Cope in June. We collected 34 items.

In July we will collect personal care items for our monthly Together We Cope collection.  Please bring shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, etc. to church on July 19th.

Mission Special Event: The Mission Committee will be sponsoring a Rice and Soy Blessing Bag Pack Event (similar to Feed My Starving Children) for Midwest Mission on Saturday August 29th in fellowship hall from 9:00 to 11:00 am.  A sign-up sheet will be available starting on Sunday August 9th.  The event will be for a maximum of the first 20 members or friends to sign-up.  Student participation form for school will be available on request. Contact Jim Simmons or Genie Lang for additional information on this event.

There will be more "Opportunities to Serve" this summer. We're asking for as many people as we can get to  volunteer to help build beds for children who don't have them. We will be working with an organization called "Sleep in Heavenly Peace" based in Oak Forest. There is no limit to how many volunteers we get, and children are welcome to attend. The dates we're offering are: Saturday, August 15th, 9:00AM-1:00PM, at 14700 S. Kildare, Oak Forest; Saturday, September 12, 9:00AM -1:00PM, at Lowes, 15601 S. LaGrange Road, Orland Park; and  Saturday, November 7, 9:00AM-1:00PM, at Lippert, 18801 S. Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park. You don't have to commit to any length of time. If you can only do one or two hours, that's fine. There will be sign-up sheets at the RaiseRight table later in July. If you have any questions, please contact Genie Lang at 708-638-8461, or stop by the RaiseRight table. There will be information you can pick up, too!

We'll keep you posted on more opportunities to serve this summer.

Thank you to Dale Carver who tried a program through Midwest Missions to collect school supplies from students at Jerling Jr. High in Orland Park, who were cleaning out their lockers at the end of the school year and throwing away good supplies. Dale received nine office boxes of supplies and 200 pairs of new gym shorts to send to schools in Honduras. Jerling also donated a dozen pair of Bombas socks that we will be donating to My Joyful Heart. The New Lenox UMC was the drop-off place for the school supplies. We hope to hit a few more schools next year!!
