It’s hard to believe that school has started and we are beginning the program year with Kick-Off Sunday on September 13th. As a result, I thought it would be timely to focus on Faith’s mission statement in the upcoming worship series.
Faith UMC is a church family dedicated to bringing people to Jesus Christ through worship,
education, mission, and fellowship.
As a church member or constituent, it’s helpful to do an annual check-in with yourself about all four of these areas. They are all important aspects our life of faith and with Faith! Some questions to ask yourself: Are you attending worship regularly either in person or on-line? Are you taking some kind of class or participating in a small group at least once a year? Are you connecting with mission outreach in some way, whether that is volunteering or donating items? And are you making a point to join with others from the congregation at an event hosted by our Fellowship Committee, our Athletics program, your small group, attending Taste of Faith or some other way?
The worship series will focus more specifically on why these four aspects are important to our Christian discipleship. We will look at scripture passages, pray over each ministry area asking God to bless what we are already doing but also to guide us to growth in that area, and we will take time to personally reflect on where we might need to “up our game” in our own journey. Here is the schedule:
September is also the time when our Nominations Committee begins its work for 2027. Please pray about how God is calling you to use your time and talents in the ministry of Faith UMC. If you feel called in a particular place where you aren’t already serving, please let me know. Or if you aren’t sure and would like some help discerning, let me know that, too! I am happy to help.
Blessings,
Pastor Jenny
