| WHAT ARE SMALL GROUPS AT FAITH UMC? | WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SMALL GROUPS AND WORKSHOPS THAT ARE OFFERED DURING FAITH FAMILY NITE? | |
| Different churches organize their Small Groups differently. Here at faith, Small Groups are gatherings of people who commit to meeting together for specified times/dates around a specific interest/topic (e.g. potlucks, book studies, genealogy, photography, etc.) Small Group members are accountable to each other for support, encouragement, and help. Confidentiality is stressed. Presence and involvement are vital. There is a sense of safety and openness that is fostered within Small Groups, even when differences of opinion are expressed. Small Groups open and close with prayer. Every Small Group engages in a group service project. | Workshops meet during Faith Family Nite on Wednesdays. Like Small Groups, the topics for Workshops are interesting and wide-ranging (e.g. line dancing, Bible study, cooking, parenting.) However, meeting times/places are set for Wednesday nights (6:30 - 7:30 pm) at church. Small Groups meet at various times and locations. Furthermore, the set of expectations for Small Groups are not the same with all Workshops (i.e. prayer, sharing, support, service). |
| Both Small Groups and Workshops are valuable activities in the life of our congregation to help us grow in our relationship with God and with one another. |
ARTIST'S CLUB If you like to paint or sketch landscapes, portraits, still life's, abstracts, etc. and would like to share your talents with others who paint or sketch, then this is the Small Group for you! Some ideas we might want to consider for this group: visit art shows, museums, etc. Paint together as a group at the Church. Each individual can choose their own projects. Plan excursions to paint "In Plein Air" (outdoors). Members bring their own art supplies & medium (oils, acrylics, water colors, pastels, sketching, etc.).
