CONFIRMATION 2011

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation is a program that is meant to help youth begin to understand their faith for themselves, ask questions, & understand what it means to be a member of a church, especially Faith United Methodist Church.
CONFIRMATION EXPECTATIONS:
  1. Attend Worship at least 3 Sundays a month
If you aren’t able to be at Faith UMC on Sunday mornings, but can attend another church, that’s ok!  We’ll talk about the differences that you might experience!  Worship times at Faith are 9:00 & 10:45

  2. Complete 10 hours of Community/Church Service
At least 8 hours must be completed at Faith UMC & can be done in a variety of ways…Helping in Sunday school, being a liturgist, working with A/V, helping with events, special church mission projects, etc…  2 hours may be done elsewhere: school, cub/girl scouts, sports, etc…

  3. Meet with your mentor at least  once a month
You’ll have a book to go through with your mentor (that you choose!) to  help get to know each other and what their faith means to them & what yours might mean to you too!

  4. Be at all meetings & retreats
If you must miss, you will need to make plans with Pastor Melissa for an make up session.  You may have up to 4 make up sessions.  If you have to miss 5 or more meetings, you’ll be invited to join the next confirmation class.

  5. Have fun!!
Even though confirmation is a class & we’ll do a lot of learning, it’s going to be fun too!  If you have any questions about God, the church, or your faith throughout our time together, we’ll do our best to wrestle with them together!
